CRA’s policy statement on political activities (CPS-022) notes that it is “essential that charities continue to offer their direct knowledge of social issues to public policy debates,” and many Canadian charities undertake “political activities” as defined by CRA.
To help charities better understand whether they need to include their “political activities” on their tax filings, CRA has created an on-line Political activities self-assessment tool.
